Last weekend when I went to the fort, Melissa took some pictures of me in my new dress! (Thanks Lots Melissa! I love them!) Here are a few! Melissa took some pictures on her camera, than she took some on my camera; than I did some editting with Phtotoshop. I’m planning on wearing this dress again next weekend for our first event at Nisqually, hopefully it won’t be too hot as I really want to wear it! *grins*

It’s Wendesday. I wish it was Friday, as I am going to the fort on Saturday! (Melissa and I plan on getting some pictures of my new dress and Melissa’s dress which she has been doing some remakes on!)

Sorry I haven’t posted since last week. I’m back to school from spring break-school is insane. =P After this weekend, my sewing plans involve sewing lots o’ costumes for Musical Theater! Mrs. B told me today that we weren’t going to rent any costumes this year, except for maybe a tux for Mr. Mayor. So, that leaves a little over 40-some costumes to put together. Luckily, most people only have one costume, though some have two as they either have two parts, or are double casted. And some really exciting news int he Musical Theater Department, We are getting new curtains!! The curtains we have now are very old, holey, faded, and they aren’t even the right size for our stage.

In sewing news, I am mostly finished with my chemisette, though it needs it’s collar sewn on, and buttons and button holes. I’m hoping to get them sewn on before Saturday; I’ll probaby have some time to sew on Friday afternoon. Hopefully I won’t procastinate! =P

Here are two different anqute laces that I am contemplating using for the collar for my chemsette. This first one came out of my G-G-Grandmother’s treadle sewing mashine and looks to be hand crocheted. There is enough for two collars and I think they may have been worn as collars, but I’m not too sure. I have another bit of lace that came out of my treadle that I am comtempating using. I didn’t take any pictures of it as right now it’s sitting to soke (it’s dirty-I’m not too sure if the orginal collar is white or off white!) It too looks like it was worn as a collar too. (I’ll upload a picture of it later).

This lace I got at the sewing expo; just enough for one collar:

….it goes on and on my friend…..

All I have left to do now is hooks and eyes, and basting the bodice to the skirt.

Oh, and also, this morning, I decided that I wanted the neckline to be a deep V, so now I need a new chemisette. I may just take the collar off my old one and make a new one, but I’d like a tucked chemisette, so I just might make a new one anyway.

And the sleeves turned out a wee bit long. I think I’ll take a tuck in them under the cap sleeve.

I may put it on after I do the hooks and eyes and take some pictures to post!

You see, I’ve been meaning to post some pictures, I just haven’t loaded my pictures onto my computer. We are going to town tomorrow and to Best Buy, and I plan to get a card reader for my new computer.

I’ve taken quite a few pictures lately! Looking forward to posting them!

In Sewing News, I been working on my purple wool dress today. I got all the ribbon basted, pinned on both sleeves and cap sleeves, and the trim sewn on one of the cap sleeves. Now that is progress, considering that I haven’t worked on this dress since like…the beginning of Febuary. =P

My goal is to have this dress done this week. Shouldn’t be too hard, right? I got all the major sewing done, just have the trim to finish sewing on, sew the placket on the bodice, darts,  make pipping and sew it on, sew on the sleeves, waistband, and hooks and eyes.

Hannah and I have been busily sewing away, getting ready for the tea on Saturday! We found a dress that fits her at the fort, so she is going to wear that (we’ll make her her own dress at a later date). Also on Hannah’s list, is a chemise and a pair of drawers. We couldn’t find any her size and we probaby won’t get her any before the tea. But we did find her a A-lady’s corset for about $37. 00 on e-bay! Her size was over-stocked at A-lady and I just happened to look on thier e-bay store. (I see she still has more of the over stocked on her e-bay store).

On Saturday, on our way home from the fort (where we also couldn’t find petticoats to fit Hannah) we got three dust ruffles to make her a quick (and farby) petticoat. We finished it last night, I’ll post pictures later. Dispite it’s farbyness, it’s perfect! Gives Hannah the perfect shape she needed without having to make a million and a half petticoats. We have named it “The watermelon petticoat”, as it looks like a watermelon. *grins*

The skirt on Hannah’s dress was kinda short, but luckily, it had a self hem facing of four inches, so we have taken it out and sewn a new facing on it, all we need now is to hem it. Then we will be done getting ready for the tea! We even got a collar on  Hannah’s dress too!

As for my purple wool dress? I decided that I’m too lazy to finish it before the tea. There’s still alot to do on it, like, sew on the trim, sew the skirt to the waist band, sew the darts, make pipping, pipe the neck and waist, sew the sleeves on, and closers. Oh well, I think I’m going to wear my gray sheer anyway as it’s one of my favorites and is really comfortable. (I think I shall be-ribbon it with some blue silk ribbon too.

Wow, it is SO unlike me to not post. Sorry dearest readers! I have been very busy this past week with school, scholarships and such.

I have also been getting ready for Mrs. Casey’s Tea the weekend after next. I’m working on my plaid dress (I accually have the skirt hemmed and the gauging set!). Hopefully, I’ll get it finished before the tea. We have a four day weekend for Pesidents Day, so hopefully I’ll get it done! My dear friend Hannah is also coming to the tea (it’ll be her first reenactment!) and we are very excited getting everything together for her. We got her a chemise, drawers, one petticoat, an apron, and hopefully a corset a-coming for her. Hopefully, we’ll find a dress for her to wear from the fort’s closet or borrow one from Melissa as they are about the same size. If we can’t find one, we shall be busily sewing away a new dress for her!

Happy weekend to you all! I do have some pictures that I have been meaning to share. Hopefully, I’ll have time to upload them soon!

As tedious as it sounds, I actually quite like pleating the little ribbon into little pleats, pinning them with little pins and sewing them down. I’m almost done with it all, but I got a foot or so more to do.

Here are what they are looking like:

Today we went to Pacific Fabrics and I got some polished cotton to line my dress (yess!! It was in the remnants, I almost overlooked it) and some really nice reproduction cotton; enough for a dress for Zoie! And also some retro fabric for a new apron.  (a post about both soon!) I have never been to Pacific Fabrics before, and there was some really nice fabric there (though a wee bit expensive). There were a few really nice repro cotton prints and I almost took some for a new dress home for me!

Or Egytian Cotton at JoAnns?

Erg! That makes me mad! I need either or to line my new wool dress!

Well, atleast I got some thread for both my sheer,  my wool dress, and the silk apron for Lissa. I think I may just start rutching the trim for my wool as now I have thread to do so. Though, I probaby should work on my report that I haven’t even started for school. =P
