Ever wonder what would happen if we treated our Bible like we treat our cell phone?

What if we carried it around in our purses or pockets?
What if we flipped through it several times a day?
What if we turned back to go get it if we forgot it?
What if we used it to receive messages from the text?
What if we treated it like we couldn’t live without it?
What if we gave it to Kids as gifts?
What if we used it when we traveled?
What if we used it in case of emergency?

Think about how much you use your cell phone and your bible. Which one gets the most of your time?

*** From Jeremy Camp’s Blog.

I know, it’s so unlike me to not post on my blog for two and a half weeks. Last time I posted was before opening night of Suessical.

My, how time flys! Suessical was great! We had so much fun preforming, and we didn’t want to stop! We could have done a hundred shows and not have grown tired of Suessical.

I took loads and loads of pictures, over 500! It’s slightly over welming looking at them all; I shall post some later, when I’m not too tired of looking at them all, but for now, check out my albumson facebook.

And now I have less then a week until I graduate! I am very excited and yet, not too sure what I’ll be doing this summer before I go off to school in the fall. Please pray that God’s will be done in my life and that I’ll find a job for the summer.

Leah Cross posted this on her IMPACT Thailand Blog  the other day, and it really spoke to my heart and in my life.

“God has some extremely exciting things in mind for His children. For some it may happen tomorrow. For some it may happen next month or next year or five years down the road. We don’t know when. For some…. it could happen today. But the beautiful thing about this adventure called faith is that we can count on Him never to lead us astray. He knows exactly where He’s taking us. Our job is to obey. ‘I will strengthen you, surely I will help you, surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10.” — Charles Swindoll

On the Third Day…..

“But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb, taking the spices they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they went in they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel. And as they were frightened and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but has risen. Remember how he told you, while he was still in Galilee,  that the Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men and be crucified and on the third day rise.” And they remembered his words, and returning from the tomb they told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest.” -Luke 24:1-8

“When he was at table with them, he took the bread and blessed and broke it and gave it to them.  And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their sight. They said to each other, “Did not our hearts burn within us while he talked to us on the road, while he opened to us the Scriptures?” And they rose that same hour and returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!”  “ -Luke 24:30-34

“As they were talking about these things, Jesus himself stood among them, and said to them, “Peace to you!” But they were startled and frightened and thought they saw a spirit. And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your hearts? See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me, and see. For a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when he had said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they still disbelieved for joy and were marveling, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish,and he took it and ate before them.  Then he said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you,that everything written about me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.”Then he opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem.”  -Luke 24:36-47

“Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them and was carried up into heaven.  -Luke 24:50-521

He has risen indeed!  The tomb is emty!

Happy Resurrection Weekend! It’s all about you, Jesus!

Now to tackle this mess. =P

Thank you Daddy for helping me fix up my sewing room! It is so much easier to keep it clean and so much more pleasant to sew now! Not only did he move this lovely hutch into my sewing room, but he moved that shelf and put up a rod that I can hang clothes on.

My son, if you receive my words
   and treasure up my commandments with you,
making your ear attentive to wisdom
   and inclining your heart to understanding;
yes, if you call out for insight
   and raise your voice for understanding,
if you seek it like silver
   and search for it as for hidden treasures,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD
   and find the knowledge of God.
For the LORD gives wisdom;
   from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;
he stores up sound wisdom for the upright;
   he is a shield to those who walk in integrity,
guarding the paths of justice
   and watching over the way of his saints.

My dad is a very creative man; he makes and repairs lots of things, like our shower, the sink, my car and the side table in our family room. He has gotten many awards at work (he works in the ship yard) for the tools and such he has made and that they use.

Here’s the bracket my dad made to subport the lamp on the side table in the family room:

Isn’t that just amazing? I would have thrown the darn broken lamp away, but Dad new how to fix it. I may have gotten my creativeness from my dear Daddy. *grins*

The other day when I was looking for a poem to recite for English, I stumbled across this poem and it really reminded me of my dad:

The Junk Box

My father often used to say:
“My boy don’t throw a thing away:
You’ll find a use for it some day.”

So in a box he stored up things,
Bent nails, old washers, pipes and rings,
And bolts and nuts and rusty springs.

Despite each blemish and each flaw,
Some use for everything he saw;
With things material, this was law.

And often when he’d work to do,
He searched the junk box through and through
And found old stuff as good as new.

And I have often thought since then,
That father did the same with men;
He knew he’d need their help again.

It seems to me he understood
That men, as well as iron and wood,
May broken be and still be good.

Despite the vices he’d display
He never threw a man away,
But kept him for another day.

A human junk box is this earth
And into it we’re tossed at birth,
To wait the day we’ll be of worth.

Though bent and twisted, weak of will,
And full of flaws and lacking skill,
Some service each can render still.

- Edgar A. Guest

An interesting tidbit about the author. This poem was first published in 1916 in “A Heap o’ Livin’” ; a collection of poems he had written. (one of over 20 books he has written).  Edgar Guest also had a weekly Detroit radio show and later TV series called “A Guest in Your Home”.

Making gingerbread cookies is a tradition in my family that we do every year for as long as I can remember. In fact, when I open Mom’s cook book to find the recipe, it opens right up to the page for gingerbread cookies! They are so much fun to make and eat!  It makes alot of cookies and it’s very easy to double, triple, etc,  and make loads upon loads. These cookies aren’t hard and crunchy gingerbread cookies, but soft and chewy. They will keep for a long time if they last that long! Here is the recipe:

Gingerbread Cookies

1 cup packed brown sugar

1/3 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups dark molasses

2/3 cup cold water

7 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking soda

1 teaspoon ground ginger

1 teaspoon salt

3 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice

Mix brown sugar, shortening, molasses and water. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.

Preheat oven 350*. Roll dough 1/4 inch thick on floured board. Cut  with a floured cookie cutter. Place on a greased cookie sheet (no spacing nessassay; the cookies won’t grow much). Bake for 9 minutes.  Allow to cool; decorate. Makes about 2 1/2 dozen 2 1/2 inch cookies.

For the frosting, we usually use the pre-made stuff that comes in the tubes, though this year I made homemade frosting as we couldn’t find the tube kind. Homemade frosting is soo much better! Use the quick 5 minite  recipe on the back of the box.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! It’s hard to believe that it’s thanksgiving already! I was looking up the history of Thanksgiving and I thought this was cool.

History of Thanksgiving.

And because I’m too lazy to go take cool fall photos, here’s one of my action pictures that I did for photography. That’s Miss M on my cool retro bike; too bad it has a flat tire. =P

Give thanks with a grateful heart
Give thanks unto the Holy One
Give thanks because He’s given Jesus Christ, His Son (repeat)

And now let the weak say, ‘I am strong’
Let the poor say, ‘I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us’ (repeat)

Give thanks

I LOVE my new blog!

I can’t believe it took me so long to convince myself to move my blog her to WordPress!

One of my favorite things about my new blog is I can see how many people read my blog. The first day after I announced my new blog, there where *drum roll* 130 views!  Wow! I didn’t know I had that many readers!

Thank you dearest readers!

Tomorrow, I will be off to play at the fort! I shall post about it later this weekend! Hopefully I won’t get too wet!

I can not believe I just said those words.

Not only am I disappointed, but I there are many others who are too. I know it is by God’s almighty grace and power that Obama is now president.

1 Timothy 2:1-3 tells us that we should pray for our leaders:

 ”I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior”

Remember to pray for our new Leaders today, for it is pleasing to the Lord!
