I finished Zoie’s dress the other day! (Oh, I’m bad.I can’t even remember what day that was….I know it wasn’t today or yesterdayand I don’t think it was Thursday, though it may have been and it could have been Wednesday. It wasn’t Tuesday as I was over at Miss M’s house sewing. *laughs* Oh Well.)
Anyway….Zoie loves it! She wouldn’t put it on once I finished it though. We convinced her that I was taking her to a party at the fort and she was going to wear it then and then she put it on! When anyone walked into the house, she’d go “Want to see my party dress? And my shoes?” She was so excited about it, I didn’t get any good pictures of her in it, she was moving around so much. It does fit her nicely though and I’m sure to get more pictures of her in it!

Yesterday, I made Zoie a doll to play with at the fort. She doesn’t know about it yet, but she’ll love it for sure! The doll is just two pieces of muslin rolled and stitched together with thread wound around her wrists, ankles and waist to give her some shape. I just adore her little dress! It has a pointed bodice, bias cut sleeves and her neckline is open, though I didn’t mean to do that. The fabric was a wee piece that someone gave me that really wasn’t enough for anything, but I loved it and it was just enough to make Zoie’s Dolly a dress!
This past weekend, I got a good amount of sewing done! Not only did I make up the pattern for Zoie’s dress, but I cut it out and consturcted it most of it! Also, I got four rows of quilting done on Elisabeth’s hood. As for now, here is Zoie’s dress! All I need to do now, is gauge the skirt and sew it on, sew in the sleeves on (they are pinned in in the pics, I need to make sure the wrist is not too small for Zoie before I sew them in) and hooks and eyes in the back.
The trim isn’t totally period correct, and the dress is almost all sewn on the sewing mashine. I actually wanted to do black trim, but I just wanted to finish the dress quickly and I didn’t want to run into town. Besides, Zoie might not wear it more then two or three times. When I was making up the pattern, Zoie accually was sitting some-what still (for Zoie) and accually didn’t mind the bodcie being on while I looked at it and made adjustments. She loves it already!
